Accounting Intern, Statutory Reporting

United StatesSummer 2026
New

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

Airbnb is seeking an Accounting Intern to join the Statutory Reporting team for our Summer Intern Program.
If hired, you’ll have the opportunity to work with the Statutory Reporting team, as well as work with multiple cross-functional partners such as GL accounting, tax, and legal.  The Statutory Reporting team works with these cross-functional teams to prepare financial statements for Airbnb entities outside of the United States.  This team also works with auditors to ensure that Airbnb’s financial information being reported are accurate, complete, and follows all the rules and regulations in different countries.

The Difference You Will Make:

You'll play an important part in ensuring Airbnb’s financial reporting outside the US is accurate and compliant. This includes analyzing accounts and identifying adjustments needed so statutory books meet local requirements. You’ll get hands-on experience drafting financial statements, and you’ll support auditors by organizing and providing key documents. You’ll also build your project management skills as you help keep audits on track and meet deadlines.

A Typical Day:

As an intern, you’ll be integrated into the Statutory Reporting team where you’ll contribute to impactful projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning. You can expect to:

  • Be an audit detective: support multiple statutory audits by gathering key supporting documents (bank statements, GL listings, invoices, etc.) in response to auditor inquiries.  See how organizations ensure compliance and accuracy first-hand!
  • Tackle real-world surveys: prepare responses to important business surveys and collect the right documentation to back them up
  • Analyze and test financial data: dive into sampling and testing journal entries, sharpening your analytical skills and data-integrity know-how
  • Investigate unrecorded liabilities: perform search for unrecorded liabilities - learn to spot what’s missing and why it matters
  • Hands-on with financial statements: support the preparation of statutory financial statements and experience the full reporting cycle
  • Journal entry experience: post statutory journal entries, gaining practical experience with accounting systems and controls

Your Expertise:

This opportunity is for first-year, Masters in Accounting students (preferred) and Masters in Finance students with the following background:

  • You are a full-time student graduating between December 2026 - Spring 2027
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts, insights, and problem-solving approaches
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in work
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent time management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Passion for the Airbnb mission and product; experience with the platform is a plus!
  • Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted) - visa sponsorship and relocation to the US is unavailable
