Description
Raytheon is currently hiring for Software Engineering Interns during the Summer of 2026. Interns typically work on satellite ground systems and related software projects. Some previous activities in these positions have involved implementing AI/ML processing tools, developing software algorithms, modeling complex satellite systems, simulating systems to understand mission performance, performing system trade studies, improving software efficiency, and developing production software as part of an Agile software development team.
What You Will Do

Design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain software for cutting-edge satellite ground systems

Research advanced software technologies

Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment
What You Will Learn

A breadth of advanced software technologies and techniques including multi-tiered architecture, AWS web services, and microservice software design

Modern DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques

Software lifecycle practices for large-scale defense project

Satellite ground system technologies
Qualifications You Must Have

Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2026 in Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major

Experience developing object-oriented software using C++ or Java

Ability to troubleshoot software errors and provide fixes

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer

Experience with Agile development

Experience developing software using Python

Experience working with applications in the AWS Cloud

Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Interest in satellite ground system software and related technologies such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, and flight dynamics models
